Sam is dancing with danger on General Hospital as she works to set up Shiloh but in real life, her portrayer, Kelly Monaco, certainly has plenty of reason to be celebrating.
That’s because she was born on May 23, 1976, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, meaning she turns 43 years old today! Monaco grew up in the Poconos, where she showed her athleticism and competitive streak early when she took part in all sorts of sports like soccer, swimming, track, and softball.
It certainly prepared her for the day in 2005 when she decided to compete in a new ABC show called Dancing With the Stars, where she would go on to win the show’s first ever Mirrorball Trophy with dancing partner Alec Mazo.
She was asked back during the All-Star season in 2012 and came in third overall with new partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy.
But long before that, she was a lifeguard on Baywatch — a show she was on back in 1997. But for soap fans, it’s all about the year 2000 when she was cast as Livvie Locke on the GH spinoff, Port Charles. She would also play Tess Ramsay.

Monaco remained with that show until 2003 when the show was canceled. But she wasn’t out of work long — she was cast on General Hospital in the pivotal role of Sam McCall and as they say — the rest is history. Fans adore her portrayal of the daughter of Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Julian Jerome (William deVry).
