Justifying Julian: Do You Feel Sorry For The Ex General Hospital Mobster?

We’ve seen Julian Jerome do some pretty rotten things on General Hospital, including putting a dagger to his wife’s neck in a (fake?) attempt to kill her.

That moment was when some say the character jumped the shark into irredeemable land, so GH did some quick thinking and decided Julian (William deVry) was only faking trying to kill Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and really intended to spirit her off to Canada to save her from his crazed sister.

Alexis did manage to get him out of jail when he was beaten to a pulp and since then Julian has tried to do nothing but the right thing. He even changed his old wardrobe and now only wears plaid shirts. If that’s not change, we don’t know what is.

But, of course, it’s not enough for some in Port Charles, including his own children. Heck, he’s even getting the short shrift in his new romance with Kim (Tamara Braun). Soap Hub asked if you feel sorry for the former mob kingpin. More than 5,000 of you weighed in.

Yes, be nicer to Julian say a whopping 85% of you. He only did one truly sneaky thing since getting out of prison and that was replacing the infamous blanket in the Q mansion for Ava (Maura West). In the end, it did manage to get Carly out of Ferncliff, so way to go Julian.

Still, no matter what he’s done Sam (Kelly Monaco) wants absolutely nothing to do with her dad, but is happily re-trying a relationship with mobster Jason. Even Julian and Alexis are friends again and Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) works for him, so what’s the problem here?

As for Lucas (Ryan Carnes), well, he wants the mobster out of ‘adopted son’ Wiley’s life, but has no issue making the son of a practicing mobster godfather to Wiley (a whole other complicated situation) and spending holidays at the practicing mobster’s house.

Then, there’s the 15% of you who feel once a criminal, always a criminal. We are not quite sure, however, if the same people also forgive Sonny (Maurice Benard) for everything.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
