In the June 22 episode of General Hospital, Trina stopped acting like a child of divorced parents and started acting like the adult she is. Trina put her foot down with Portia and Curtis after months of playing peacemaker. It’s about time she took some distance because it’s necessary.

Key Takeaways

  • Trina set boundaries with Curtis and Portia.
  • She finally told them how she felt.
  • It’s time for her to live her own life.

Portia and Curtis Reveal Their New Plan

Trina (Tabyana Ali) showed up at Portia’s (Brook Kerr) with an agenda. Although she was shocked to see Curtis (Donnell Turner) there, it was perfect timing.

Instead of waffling in her decision, Trina was brutally honest. Trina listened as Curtis and Portia apologized for their actions and outlined their new plan to keep things civil.

While Trina was glad to see her parents had found a way to co-exist for her and the baby, she wasn’t ready to change her mind. Trina bluntly told her parents that she needed less attention from them.

Trina Tells It Like It Is

Once she dropped her news, Trina explained how she was so consumed with fixing her parents’ problems that she was blowing up her own life. Although she was grateful to Portia and Curtis for helping her through losing Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), she needed space to focus on her own life.

Trina made it clear she would reach out to her parents, but they were not to contact her. Curtis and Portia were crushed to hear Trina say that she didn’t want to see them until the baby was born.

However, they respected her decision and agreed they would adhere to the boundaries she set.

It’s About Time Trina Focused On Herself

The one good thing about Curtis’ obsession with Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) and the car accident is Trina establishing boundaries with her parents. Now Trina can focus on being a college student, figuring out her dreams and life goals while pursuing her passion.

Aside from working at the gallery, Trina set everything aside to keep the peace between Portia and Curtis. Once it was revealed that Curtis was the father of Portia’s baby, Trina became more focused on them. Trina even let her obsession with her parents cost her Kai (Jens Austin Astrup) and almost cost her the showcase.

Hopefully, this means GH fans will see a more grown-up version of Trina instead of one being written like a child. Trina deserves to be a normal college kid. Perhaps she will even find some trouble to get into as she focuses on her own life rather than the friction in her family.

On a side note. Watching Trina give Portia and Curtis a reality check was pure soap bliss. It was also the first time we had enjoyed watching Curtis on-screen in a long time.
