General Hospital‘s Trina has been the adult in the room for too long. Her parents and their constant squabbling have pushed her past her limit, and she is finally breaking free.

Curtis And Portia Are The Worst

Curtis (Donnell Turner) and Portia (Brook Kerr) love their daughter. There is nothing they wouldn’t do for Trina (Tabyana Ali)… except make peace. They have definitely tried, but they cannot manage to keep it going for long.

As a matter of fact, they started with a bang. Portia’s lie about Trina’s dad came out on their wedding day, and the marriage was almost over before it began. They eventually made it over that hurdle, and some good times did follow, but lies and cover-ups were the theme of their whole relationship. Their daughter was always stuck in the middle, trying to make everyone happy.

Trina was devastated when he parents split. She had a hard time with both Curtis and Portia starting new relationships so soon, but eventually came around.

Just when things began to look peaceful, a new firestorm began. Curtis is running around accusing Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) of leaving him and Jordan (Tanisha Harper) to die. The two men fought, and Curtis injured the doctor’s hand so badly that he may never be able to perform surgery again. War has been declared, and Trina is stuck in the middle.

Trina Is Done

Trina has grown into a competent and independent young woman with endless opportunities. She has a great boyfriend, fantastic friends, a future career, and a full life. The one thing holding her back is her parents. She has tried to play referee but that clearly hasn’t worked. Trina would like them to have an amicable divorce where the whole family can spend time together. She wants this for herself and for the new baby.

The last straw was the baby shower. Trina put off opportunities for herself and her singing career to create a wonderful day for her family. Curtis, Portia, Isaiah, and Jordan turned it into a disastrous circus.

Trina has finally come to her senses and is putting herself first. This is not rebellion; it is growth. She can no longer live with the bickering adults in her life. She loves them, but is now taking charge of her own life and career. This young woman has a bright future, and she is taking charge. Curtis and Portia will now have to figure out their issues without their daughter’s help. It’s about time. Do you agree that Trina made the right move?
