In the June 10 episode of General Hospital, things picked up right where they left off with Sidwell shooting Lucas. Sidwell thought he had the upper hand until the police arrived to arrest him. That’s right, it was all a setup, but also a reminder never to count Sidwell out.

Key Takeaways

  • Lucas wore a bulletproof vest.
  • Sidwell had an escape plan.
  • The setup changed the game again.

Here Comes The PCPD

Once Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) pulled the trigger and shot Lucas (Van Hansis), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Joe (Jonathan Bennett), and the rest of the Port Charles Police Department came out guns a blazing. Sidwell was handcuffed as Laura (Genie Francis) rushed to Lucas’ side.

With a little help from Joe, Lucas got up, and it was revealed that he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Did anyone really think he would die?

Sidwell realized it was a setup when he saw Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura emerge from the shadows. The villain tried to convince Dante that Laura and Sonny needed to be arrested for murdering Dalton (Daniel Goddard).

However, without the photo evidence, Dante had no proof. Laura, Sonny, and Lucas relished in their victory as Cassius (Ryan Paevey) took a handcuffed Sidwell away.

The Best Laid Plans Are Never Foolproof

On the way to the PCPD, Cassius pulled over to let Sidwell out. Cassius warned Sidwell he couldn’t protect him from the attempted murder charges and instructed Sidwell to leave town.

It should surprise no one that Sidwell has plenty of contingency plans in place just in case things went sideways. A good villain is always one step ahead of the rest, right?

Sidwell broke the news to Cassius and declared their working together is far from over. Then he ordered Cassius to give him his gun, which he did. Cassius called Dante to tell him that Sidwell’s men got the jump on him, and Sidwell escaped.

Was It All For Nothing?

Lucas put his life on the line to not only help Sonny and Laura but also in the name of justice for Marco. Sidwell’s escape means Lucas has landed in grave danger. Laura and Sonny should be worried as well.

The betrayal has only fueled a fire in Sidwell, especially at a time when things are dramatically falling apart in every part of his life. Sidwell wasn’t thinking clearly before because of Marco’s death. What Sonny, Laura, and Lucas did has only upped the stakes for him.

Sidwell, on the run, is likely part of the backup plan that he was talking to Cassius about. The villain also knows that the three who plotted against him all think they are in the clear, which makes him even more dangerous.

GH fans know Sidwell wouldn’t simply go away quietly. Even Laura wondered if it was really over when Sonny said it was, and boy, was she right. The setup worked, but then it backfired, and that’s just the beginning.
