You didn’t think Julian was really going to jail for 20 years, did you? Of course not. The General Hospital (GH) character’s prison sentence was written because William deVry was in prolonged contract negotiations. A prison sentence that could always be commuted was the perfect way to write him off in case the negotiations went well.
And they went well, indeed, as deVry announced he made a deal with the soap back in August. However, he had some time off between now and then and finally made his way back onto the GH set this week–and he was certainly welcomed.
The Julexis Army is a fan base still going strong, believing Julian can be redeemed and Alexis will forgive him for all he did–even holding a dagger to her neck. After all, he did claim that he had a boat waiting for her and wasn’t REALLY planning on killing her before Sonny came along.
Is that the show’s intention with Julian’s return or do they plan to point the character in a whole new direction as Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) gets closer to Dr. David Bensch (James DePaiva)? The Julexis Army is clearly hoping for the first scenario and gave deVry quite a surprise on his first day back — October 16.
Between cupcakes, balloons, and a sweet note, the actor sure felt the love from his fans just as he did via the applause that erupted when he attended the soaps’ fan club gathering in the midst of negotiations this summer.
deVry took to Twitter to thanks his fans and show everyone how devoted they are to the pairing of Julian and Alexis.
