As Jane Elliot’s time as Tracy on General Hospital (GH) nears the end, with her last episode airing on May 4 (barring preemptions), fans are in for a treat with an entire episode devoted to the fan-favorite.
The episode airs on April 28, and according to an interview with GH’s co-head writers in the May 1 issue of Soap Opera Digest, it should be a real treat for longtime fans.
Tracy is still wrestling with whether or not to help the mysterious stranger, Samira (Ivy Natalia), who feels that the $20 million painting that Tracy received from her father is the only way she can save her daughter. But can she trust this young woman? And what is the right thing to do?
Co-Head Writer Shelly Altman previews, “People who have been important to her in her life in Port Charles will voice various opinions about the way conduct herself from here on out.”
Seeing the familiar faces should be a real treat for longtime fans. But it takes on a more serious tone as well, Co-Head Writer, Jean Passanante, explains how this moral dilemma with Samira forces some introspection for Tracy.
“This leads her to a place where she imagines what it would be like to have to defend her life, her actions, her choices.”
Some of those choices were quite brutal over the years. Who can forget Elliot’s incredible performance when Tracy withheld her father’s heart medication (when he faked his heart attack) because she didn’t want to be taken out of the will?
It was a test that she failed and paid dearly for over the years.
It should be an incredibly memorable episode, and it’s hard to imagine another character (or actress) more deserving of it.
