A tweet with a very familiar General Hospital fan favorite has left viewers wondering if Brad Maule and Tony Jones will be making a return visit to Port Charles.

General Hospital News: Brad Maule On Set

Leslie Charleson (Monica) tweeted a photo of herself, co-stars Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie) and Ryan Carnes (Lucas), and Brad Maule, beloved by fans for his run as Dr. Tony Jones from 1984 to 2006. The tweet was quickly deleted, which tells us someone higher up at GH didn’t want word leaking.

“Look who was on the show today!! ⁦@bradmaule⁩,” Charleson wrote. “So good to see our old pal!!!” Maule was pictured with Charleson and Ryan Carnes (Lucas). You can see Soap Hub’s screenshot below.

Longtime GH viewers know that Tony died onscreen after contracting a rare strain of encephalitis. The show gave Tony an emotional sendoff as he shared a tearful farewell with both Bobbie and Lucas, his adopted son. Tony knew Lucas was gay and accepted and loved him.

Given that Lucas, himself, is now in a custody story in which he doesn’t know the infant he adopted isn’t the one he and Brad (Parry Shen) are raising, it’s conceivable Maule is reprising Tony as some of type of spirit to lend guidance to his son. Or it could be that Maule was just dropping by to say hello to his former colleagues.

Maule received a Daytime Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Leading Actor in a Drama Series in 1995 for the storyline in which the good doctor had to say goodbye to his beloved daughter B.J. (Brighton Hertford) after she was declared brain dead following a school bus accident.

In a heart-wrenching story, still referenced on the show today — Bobbie recently gave Carly B.J.’s music box for her new daughter Donna — B.J.’s heart was donated to her cousin Maxie (Kirsten Storms).

After the life-saving procedure, Tony visited Maxie and listened to his late daughter’s heart, beating in a new body. Later, Tony’s affair with Carly ruined his marriage to Bobbie and sent him down a dark path. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
