Sonny is swimming with the fishes on General Hospital. Which, of course, is a fitting end for a mobster, very Godfather. That is if we assume that this is truly the end of Sonny. (Another mobster reference, this time the classic movie, Little Caesar.)
Odds are he’ll make it home to Port Charles, sooner or later. But, in the meantime, who should take over his “coffee” (wink, wink) empire? What almost 5,000 viewers would like to see happen during the (temporary) torch-passing:
Can there be any other choice than Jason, 74% of you are wondering? Jason is Sonny’s right hand, his protege, the person he trusts above all others, and the only one who truly understands the terrible burden that Sonny (Maurice Benard) must bear, toiling selflessly to keep Port Charles safe as others accuse him of being a cr-cr-criminal. Jason could never do as good of a job as Sonny, but he will preserve his legacy as no one else ever could.
Michael (Chad Duell) is Sonny’s favorite son. Morgan is dead, and Dante, great guy that he is, is still a little too much on the side of law and order. The rest of his children are girls. So that’s a non-starter. Only Michael can do the Corinthos name proud, 14% of the audience decrees. He must step up. And we must all kiss his ring.
A slightly smaller 12% wonders why you need Michael when Carly (Laura Wright) is available. She’s the one who has been at Sonny’s side through thick and thin – except when she was with someone else, but who’s counting? She has defended Sonny against every charge, stood by him through every trial. They are basically the same person, so of course, she’s the one who should carry on his legacy for their children.
