General Hospital’s on-again-off-again-currently-on-again couple, Sonny and Carly, seem to be suffering from a failure to communicate.
Alternative Lifestyle
Carly (Laura Wright) just got out of a car trunk in Niagara Falls, where she went to track down evil Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) and — in her mind — equally evil Ava (Maura West), alongside Carly’s faithful squire, Jason (Steve Burton).
Meanwhile, Sonny (Maurice Benard) is running around Turkey with Robert (Tristan Rogers), looking for Dante (Dominic Zaparonga). And neither knows where the other is.
Isn’t that a little weird for a couple as allegedly devoted as Sonny and Carly –especially when Carly just announced a surprise high-risk pregnancy? Over 20,000 fans weighed in:
Sonny and Carly’s entire marriage is weird, 68% of you voted. We’re not really sure what they see in each other, despite dysfunction and enabling of their very worst selves.
They lie to each other constantly, they take off and risk their lives without filling in the other, and leaving the children they proclaim to love so much — including Ava’s daughter, Avery, and Jax’s (Ingo Rademacher) daughter, Josslyn (Eden McCoy) — to their own devices. (We assume the Corinthos home comes with invisible staff to see that they’re fed.)
That’s not a thriving marriage. Even roommates are more considerate of each other.
Old Shoes
Carly and Sonny are so comfortable together, 34% of the audience counters, they don’t need to tell each other where they are every moment of the day.
This may be difficult for the insecure and needy to understand, but Sonny and Carly trust each other. They know that their beloved is always right, no matter what haters — and the law — might say.
As a result, they don’t need to check in or live in each other’s pockets. They’re adults, and theirs is the ideal marriage. They’ll catch each other up when they get back to Port Charles.
