How to Eat Like General Hospital’s Quartermaines For Thanksgiving

The Quartermaine family of General Hospital is known for being wealthy and chaotic, which is often especially prevalent during Thanksgiving. Despite their repeated efforts, year after year, the family often ends up noshing on pizza instead of a more traditional array of Thanksgiving offerings.

For 30 years, the Quartermaine Thanksgiving celebrations have been filled with one mishap after another.

In 1994, the traditional Thanksgiving feast at the Quartermaine mansion was destroyed by the family’s dog, Annabelle. As everybody took in the disastrous remains of the meal, Ned (Wally Kurth) suggested they have pizza instead. (Get your own Thanksgiving pizza here)

Ever since then, it’s been a gamble whether the Quartermaine family can expect a traditional spread of food or not. Ahead of Thanksgiving, family members may talk about how much they’re looking forward to turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and the like.

However, with the Quartermaines, there are almost even odds that pizza will be on the table instead in any given year. Of course, they could set themselves up for further disaster by making pizza themselves with a pizza oven and all the usual fixings. When it comes to the Quartermaine family, though, they usually play it safe by ordering out instead.

Traditional Dinner Ruined

Over the years, the Quartermaine Thanksgiving meals have been ruined by a wide range of issues.

In 1995, duck was slated to be the star of the Quartermaine Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, Lucy Coe wreaked havoc with those plans. In other years, disruptions such as oven issues, food poisoning, and even a hostage situation forced a last-minute change.

In 2023, the Quartermaine family took a different approach to their Thanksgiving feast. Lois (Rena Sofer) and her mother cooked an Italian meal instead of the more traditional turkey. Unfortunately, the menu change didn’t give the family the chance to eat home-cooked food over pizza once again.

GH fans can almost always count on a couple of things when it comes to the Quartermaine Thanksgiving gatherings. There will be drama, and there will be a high likelihood of a pizza delivery.

Let us know your plans for Thanksgiving dinner in the comments below. Are you more like the Quartermaines, or does your table feature a traditional spread?
