They’re alone, on the run, with no one to turn to but each other. And, over the past few months, a palpable attraction had been brewing between them. So having sex was an inevitable turn for General Hospital’s Jason and Britt. But how far is too far for the intriguing new duo?
Technically, they’re both free agents. Britt’s (Kelly Thiebaud) been going it solo since her short-lived affair with Julian (William deVry) ended. Jason’s (Steve Burton) been alone, since Sam (Kelly Monaco) shocked him and called off their long-term relationship.
Britt and Jason are two consenting adults. So having the pair giving in to passion under their current circumstances made total sense. It was the outlet they both wanted… and needed.
However, being free and being available are two different things. While Britt’s heart isn’t tied to anyone – unless she’s starting to seriously fall for Jason, his has always been attached to Sam. Whether they’re together or not, Sam is the woman who has a hold on his heartstrings.
A genuine commitment to Britt isn’t possible for the always honest Jason. He wouldn’t be able to take that next step until finalizing things with Sam and actually feeling like a free man. So, for now, a real relationship seems out of the question for these two.
The General Hospital brass will have to tread carefully as they proceed with the couple. The usually tough Britt is suddenly showing her vulnerable side, since learning she holds the marker for Huntington’s Disease. Hence, the show’s writers will have to be mindful of that moving forward, and, in turn, so will Jason.
Viewers won’t want to see Britt heartbroken on top of everything else she’s had to bear, and Jason surely won’t want to play with her feelings. But what happens when and if Sam’s brought back into the mix, assuming that she and Jason are still GH’s end game?
It could set the stage for a well-balanced and complicated triangle, as Jason’s left to decide between two fierce women: Sam, his longtime love, partner, and mother of his son; and Britt, a woman who’s recently proven her allegiance and devotion.
