Entertainer Suzanne Whang, who was best known for hosting HGTV’s popular show House Hunters and was on General Hospital back in 2011, has sadly passed away at the age of 56.
The actress/host had waged a long battle with breast cancer. Her partner, Jeff Vezain, shared the news on Facebook, along with more details about the incredible woman she was.
“On Tuesday evening around 7:20 pm, Suzanne breathed her last breath here at home, as I knelt beside her and caressed her. For thirteen years she confronted cancer with courage, humor, determination, and optimism. She was immensely encouraged by the love of her family, friends and those she had yet to meet. Your kind, loving messages always lifted her spirits,” Vezain wrote in the post.
“I know she would prefer that her life be celebrated, as opposed to her passing mourned, but I also know how vehemently she disagreed with anyone being told, ‘Don’t cry.’ So…cry if you will.”
Whang’s former General Hospital co-star Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda) also posted a tribute for her best friend on Instagram. “There was not a person alive that bunny loved more than her baby sister Julie, her beautiful mother and father. Her nieces, nephews and her godson,” Marcil wrote.
“As she always said, ‘friends and lovers will come and go but family remains the constant, the essence of my heartbeat’ Her blood. We pray for their hearts today as life on this earth will never be the same again. Bunny…”
Whang portrayed Carol Chang on GH, Brenda Barrett’s wedding planner, and was also rumored to have been involved with Franco. Marcil also advertised a GoFundMe page that was set up to help Whang with her treatments, as she has been fighting this disease for over a decade.
Along with her work on HGTV and General Hospital, Whang also guest-starred on other shows including Dexter, Criminal Minds, and Las Vegas. Our thoughts and prayers are with Suzanne Whang’s friends and family during this devastating time.
