General Hospital stars Donnell Turner and Laura Wright test their trivia knowledge on an episode of the game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire last year airing this coming week on February 28!
Turner told Soap Hub that he selected Autism Speaks as the charity that would benefit from any winnings. As for Wright, she planned to donate her winnings to One Simple Wish, an organization that helps neglected and abused foster children.
“Anyone who knows me knows that it’s a cause that’s very special to me,” Turner said of Autism Speaks.
The actors says that the show prepared him in the show’s green room with sample questions.
“In the green room, I was doing well,” said Turner, who notes there was another celebrity in the room, too, who was preparing for his appearance on an episode of Millionaire; it was Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous host Robin Leach! “Hearing his voice took me back to my childhood,” Turner shared.
“We answered about six or seven questions when we got out there, Some, Laura knew. Some, I knew. We used one audience lifeline for a question that was obvious to everyone — but Laura [Wright, Carly] and me,” Turner chuckled.
Turner admitted he’s not a big fan of deliberating out loud as is the practiced with contestants on Millionaire. “But you have to do that,” he says. “It helps you get to the answer.”
One question in particular that Turner found challenging was about menu items at McDonald’s. You’ll have to tune in to hear the question, but Turner says he’ll never forget it!
