Alexa Havins is taking over a prominent role on General Hospital: Luke and Laura’s only daughter, Lulu. Comatose since 2020 when she was caught in an explosion, Lulu has finally regained consciousness after a lifesaving liver transplant. Unfortunately, Sam McCall died of a heart attack after donating part of her liver.

What You Should Know

Best known for her role as Babe Carey Chandler on All My Children from 2003 to 2007 and again in 2011, Havins will be the third actress to tackle an adult Lulu. Julie Marie Berman played the character from 2005 to 2013. Emme Rylan took over the part in 2013 and stayed until 2020.

Since leaving the daytime genre, Havins has had success guest starring on numerous primetime series, including Castle, CSI: New York and Grey’s Anatomy. She’s also appeared in several films, including Brooklyn Rules and 27 Dresses.

Want to learn more about the actress? Here are seven things to know about Alexa Havins.

1. Havins was born on November 16, 1980 in Artesia, New Mexico. However, she was raised in Chandler, Arizona.

2. As a child, her first love was dance. In fact, she began performing with a jazz ensemble at the age of five and danced professionally for many years.

3. Havins switched her focus, when she was discovered by acting coach Jean Fowler, who encouraged her to pursue a new career path and relocate to New York City. Havins followed Fowler’s advice and began attending Circle in the Square Theatre School. Years later, she moved to Los Angeles and started studying with acting coach Brian Reise.

4. Havins earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her role as AMC’s Babe in 2005. She lost to fellow AlMC co-star Eden Riegel, who portrayed Bianca Montgomery.

5. It was on the AMC set that Havins met her soulmate and future husband, actor Justin Bruening. Ironically, he played her character’s stepbrother, Jamie Martin. The couple wed in 2005 and have three children.

6. Havins joined the cast of Torchwood’s fourth series, Torchwood: Miracle Day in 2011, which ran on BBC Worldwide and on Starz in the U.S. She portrayed CIA analyst Esther Drummond

7. Havins leads a pretty private life, only doing occasional interviews when a specific acting project calls for it. She’s one of the rare celebrities who shies away from social media. She’s not on Facebook, nor is she on Instagram.
