Heavens To Betsy! Should Franco’s Mama Stick Around General Hospital (GH)?

Pity poor Franco on General Hospital (GH). First, he was nutso, crazy cuckoo. Albeit, with movie-star good looks and a thriving art career.

Then, Franco (Roger Howarth) learned that his biological mother, Heather (Robin Mattson), was one gooseberry short of a fruitcake. And that she’d somehow managed to conceive him with Scott (Kin Shriner), before the pair even met. Onscreen. We all saw it.

After that, the slightly ditzy – and, OK, lying, child molester-ignoring – Betsy (Deborah Strang) who raised him didn’t seem so bad.

Franco doesn’t have a lot of fans in Port Charles. There’s Obrecht (Kathleen Gatti). And there’s Liz (Rebecca Herbst). And at least now there’s Drew. That can get lonely.

Does Franco need his adoptive Mommy in town to keep an eye on her wayward boy? Over 10,000 supporters weighed in:

Keeping Mum
No one loves you like your mother, 75% of the audience reminds. Betsy has seen Franco at his worst, and she’s stuck by him. Who else can claim that? She also seems to have a weird sort of effect on Franco.

He doesn’t become calmer, exactly. And he doesn’t stop his endless eating and mumbling. But he does seem like he wants her approval, which might make him behave. Which might keep a few men out of cages in the near future. So everybody wins!

Put Her In a Home
Betsy’s stellar parenting is what set Franco on the road to being Franco, 24% of you remind.

Sure, he may have had some bad genetics working against him (see fruitcake Heather, above), but getting molested by Mom’s boyfriend and shoving your brother down the stairs likely didn’t help his fragile psyche hold it together.

Betsy has done enough damage, we don’t need to risk her doing more. And she definitely shouldn’t be around Jake…and the perennially invisible Cameron and Aiden.
