Even non-soap fans had heard about General Hospital in the 1980s. The majority of people could identify Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis), but are they the fans’ favorite? What over 4,000 let us in on:
Luke and Laura, it is, 65% of you voted! They made the cover of People Magazine! Their wedding was the most-watched episode in daytime history! They returned to the show in the 1990s and have been popping in and out ever since. Sure, they’re not together anymore, but the memories are forever!
A much smaller 16% voted for Frisco (Jack Wagner) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner). These days, they’re represented on the canvas by their daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms). Frisco is… who knows where (though rumored to be running the WSB). Felicia is… we know where, but being married to Mac (John J. York) has rendered her more or less invisible. Back in the day, though, they were hot stuff. A rock and roll singer and an Aztec princess searching for treasure? What’s more 80s than that?
And then there’s the 13% of the audience that’s still yearning for Anna (Finola Hughes) to be reunited with the true love of her life, Duke (Ian Buchanan). He did come back from the dead in this century… only to die again. Not fair, their 80s fans cried. We deserve a happy ending!
Finally, only 6% voted for Robert (Tristan Rogers) and Holly (Emma Samms). These two have spent the bulk of their relationship with one or both presumed dead. Currently, it’s Holly’s turn to be singing with the angels but, eventually, she’ll be back. As long as Robert can hold onto his mortality, maybe they even have a chance. Heck, maybe all of the above couples still have a chance. Dead or alive. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
