Fans aren’t the only ones singing the praises of actor Roger Howarth, who currently plays Austin Gatlin-Holt on General Hospital. Co-stars Finola Hughes and Amanda Setton couldn’t say enough good things about him during a recent gathering with the show’s viewers.
Finola Hughes and Amanda Setton Zoom With Fans
The subject came up during a General Hospital Fantasy Events Zoom with Hughes (Anna Devane) and Setton (Brook Lynn Quartermaine), when one fan, Lori, praised Setton’s work with Howarth and asked her thoughts on their contentious chemistry between BLQ and Austin, since the two distant relatives seemingly hate each other.
“It’s been really fun, thank you for asking,” began Setton. “He’s a hoot. He’s really a funny guy. He’s such an interesting person and I actually knew him back on One Life [to Live where she played Kim Andrews and he played Todd Manning] when I did a stint so it’s been really fun getting to work with him again. And I love that contentious stuff…it’s fertile.”
While Setton had finished her answer, Hughes couldn’t help but join in, wanting to share her take on the talented actor. After all, Anna did have to deal with Austin a few times in and out of Port Charles (remember the cabin scenes as she investigated the baby’s disappearance?) because of his involvement with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) during the takedown of Peter August (Wes Ramsey) storyline on the show.
“Roger is one of the best,” gushed Hughes. “He really can see his way around a script. He just tears that script up, and he makes all these strange choices…interesting choices…I just love him. He’s great. He’s really cool.”
