 Comments

Now that General Hospital has officially debuted its newest Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), the character’s former portrayer, Nicolas Bechtel, is sharing his thoughts on his tenure as the son of Nikolas Cassadine and Sonny Corinthos’s late half-sister, Courtney.

Nicolas Bechtel Looks Back on His Time at GH

Spencer suffered third-degree burns at his own birthday party, spent time with the spirit of his Mother [Courtney, played by Alicia Leigh Willis], ran away, was kidnapped, tampered with an election and broke his legs skiing in the Swiss Alps,” Bechtel posted on Twitter, summarizing Spencer’s more memorable moments over the last several years. “It’s been a great run…thank you for all your love and support #GH.”

Bechtel joined the show back in 2013 when he was only 8 years old as the son of Nikolas (then, Tyler Christopher; now, Marcus Coloma) and the late Courtney. The precocious youngster was a scene-stealer as Spencer often shared his mature and unique outlook with the adults around him.

At the Nurses Ball one year, Spencer tried to woo Emma (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) away from Cameron (then, Michael Leone; now, William Lipton) with the help of Ronn Moss (ex-Ridge, The Bold and the Beautiful), who, along with the band Player, performed their 1978 hit song, Baby Come Back.

GH star Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) responded to Bechtel’s tweet with one word — “Legend.” Added Silzer, “The best xoxo.” Longtime GH viewer Lois Troutman spoke for many fans when she wrote, “Our beloved Nicolas Bechtel as our beloved Spencer Cassadine. My goodness, I will miss you! Signs pointed to a return for a long time, thought it would be you. Thank you for the brilliant entertainment you brought us. Good luck. We will miss you terribly! #GH.”

“You were fabulous and have been missed,” posted @beccarebec. “Looking forward to see where life and career takes you. You created an amazing, colorful and unforgettable legacy character on a legacy show. Helluva job, Sir!” General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
