Fans of James Patrick Stuart, who plays Valentin on General Hospital, know that the actor is also a musician and that his late father was Chad Stuart of the 1960s musical act Chad & Jeremy. The actor recently shared in a Fantasy Events live chat with co-star Finola Hughes a few stories about his music, one of which is deeply sentimental.

James Patrick Stuart Honors His Late Father

“My father was in rock and roll in the 1960s,” Stuart explained, sharing that his dad, who passed away last December at the age of 79, left behind for his wife, Judy Shelly, a song titled Another Time that he didn’t have a chance to record. “It was the last song my father ever wrote. There’s a lyric that says, ‘I see us together in another time.'”

Stuart recorded Another Time at his stepmother’s request and the song is on his second CD (check the Instagram post below). “It’s all a very personal thing,” says the actor, who adds, “There was a ‘Luke and Obi-Wan Kenobi’ moment between us [after he passed away]. I felt him. I’ve felt him every day since. The song means a lot to me [because] it’s something that we did together.”

Guess Who Loves Wally Kurth’s Music

Stuart chuckles that his wife is a big supporter of the music by one GH star in particular — Wally Kurth (Ned Quartermaine)! And she’s not the only Kurth admirer either. “I’m such a fan,” Stuart says. “My wife is also a fan of Wally’s. I had him play songs in my living room one time. [My wife] was like a cat who heard a can opener, she came out to see him. I hope that [Wally and I] have a chance to sing together. Wally and I are big fans of one another.”

Stuart was asked during the Fantasy Event with Hughes if he plans on doing a third CD. His first is titled Apple Tree. That CD and Clean Slate can both be ordered by clicking here. “That’s so nice,” Stuart responded to the inquiry. “I’m still recovering from the second one …that was a lot of work.”

The pandemic actually contributed to the artistic content of Clean Slate. Stuart says that because the CD was produced during the pandemic lockdown, he was able to reach out to musicians, who were looking to stay busy. “I got a chance to work with people who never would have been available [otherwise],” he says. “It occurred to me that some of these guys were all stuck at home and couldn’t tour.”

The actor/singer says he collaborated with jazz pianist Matt Politano and also, his childhood hero Omar Akeem Ali on Clean Slate. Is there a third CD in the works for Stuart? Not yet, but don’t be surprised if one is done later. “If and when the muse hits me, then, absolutely,” he says.
