To wrap up Pride month, General Hospital’s Cassandra James recently reflected on what it means to her in a poignant production from ABC.
Cassandra James Celebrates Pride
The stunning star, who plays General Hospital co-Chief of Staff Terry Randolph, is among the first transgender actors to portray a transgender character on daytime television, along with The Bold and the Beautiful’s Scott Turner Schofield, who played Nick. She shared the video on her Instagram.
“The opportunity to reflect with @abcnetwork on my own journey and what Pride means is an incredible honor. 💫🌈 And thank you to my @generalhospitalabc family for celebrating Pride with me, not just all month long, but every step of the way. 🏳️⚧️💖✨ #GH #TransPride #TransRights,” she captioned the post.
James opened the video with, “we are worthy. We are all worthy of love and belong in this world.” She explained that “Pride is really about our liberation, our light, our freedom.
“At the start of my journey, I was terrified,” James said in the collaborative video. As for who a strong ally in her journey was, she said, “my mom comes to mind. I get to see the way that she loved me through this female experience that I’m now walking through.” She tearfully continued, “I love my mom. She’s amazing.”

The video continued, with different ABC stars discussing how important representation is on television. “We have a responsibility as storytellers, as artists, to reflect the human experience,” said Cassandra James.
As for those people who are just coming out for the first time, the actress had this advice — “Fall in love with yourself a little bit more every day.”
