He is the tall, sensitive doctor in Port Charles, Dr. Patrick Drake, who the broken go to when they need to be healed. Jason Thompson has portrayed the intellectually driven doctor on General Hospital (GH) for the past ten years, and now he has chosen to leave GH and join The Young and the Restless.
Soaphub wanted to know if fans would be sad he is leaving the soap. The poll was sent out, and the responses were overwhelming.
More than 82% of fans are heartbroken that Thompson is leaving General Hospital. Sure, it took some time to warm up to him, but once fans fell in love, that love only grew as his character matured and took on more engaging storylines.
An interesting 13% of fans are happy to see him written off the GH canvas. He’s been in more love triangles than he needs and Emma really deserves more stability. So perhaps with his departure, another more family-friendly storyline will be written for Emma.

As usual, there are fans who don’t care either way. In this case, 4% of fans won’t be affected if the good doctor leaves Port Charles. They’ve watched the soap for a long time and they don’t care if one character gets written off, it happens all the time — it’s a soap!
