As of today, Lucky Spencer is getting a temporary new look on General Hospital. Fan-favorite Jonathan Jackson is stepping away for a few episodes, making room for Days of our Lives alum Guy Wilson to step into the role. While temporary recasts can be jarring for loyal viewers, fans can rest assured that Jackson’s absence will be short-lived.
A Temporary Shake Up
Don’t fret, Jackson fans! Soap Opera Digest reports that this switch-up is only for a handful of episodes, and Jackson will be back in Port Charles before you know it. In fact, a spokesperson for the show confirmed that Jonathan is already back on set filming, and we can expect to see him return to our screens later this month.

General Hospital Welcomes Guy Wilson
This recast is exciting news for DAYS fans. Guy Wilson made quite a name for himself playing Will Horton, the son of Sami Brady and Lucas Horton. He took over the role in 2014 and made history when Will and Sonny Kiriakis had the first same-sex wedding on daytime television. However, his time in Salem was cut short when Will was tragically killed off in 2015 by the Necktie Killer – a move that left fans outraged. Fortunately, DAYS later revived the character, though Wilson did not return for the role.
After leaving DAYS, Wilson moved on to the online drama Youthful Daze, where he portrayed Shane. He’s also made guest appearances on hit shows like NCIS: Los Angeles, S.W.A.T., and Bosch: Legacy. His versatility as an actor makes him a great fit to temporarily step into Lucky’s shoes.
Jonathan Jackson’s Legacy as Lucky Spencer
Jonathan Jackson originated the role of Lucky Spencer in 1993 when he was just 11 years old. As the son of iconic supercouple Luke and Laura, Lucky quickly became a fan favorite. Jackson’s portrayal of the character earned him five Daytime Emmy Awards and cemented his place in GH history. He left the soap in 1999 to pursue other opportunities, including a music career with his band, Enation. Over the years, the role of Lucky has been recast multiple times, with Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan taking over before Jackson returned in 2009. He stayed until 2011 and made a brief return in 2015 before stepping away once again.
