When Kirsten Storms tweeted early Friday that rumors of her General Hospital (GH) departure had been greatly exaggerated, she meant it.
She even said that she signed a brand-new contract with the show, but that apparently didn’t mean you’ll only see Storms playing Maxie this summer, according to Soap Opera Digest.
Due to a brief illness, Storms had to take a few days off during a pivotal storyline so she needed a pinch hitter and Molly Burnett stepped into the role once again.
Burnett, who made a daytime name for herself as Days of Our Lives’ Melanie, played Maxie briefly back in 2016 when Storms took some time off due to stress-related skin issues.
Expect to see Burnett playing Maxie on June 1 and 4. Maxie is involved in a huge story right now as she’s about to give birth on the side of road and nobody knows if her baby might get switched with Nelle’s–or even the baby that Lucas and Brad plan to adopt.
No wonder GH couldn’t afford to be without the character for even two days. Still, we’re glad Storms is now well and that Burnett was able to lend the show a helping hand.
