Genie Francis On Her GH Return & Why Kevin Is The Man For Laura

Fans are thrilled that Genie Francis is back on General Hospital but they’re also fearing for her character Laura’s safety now that she’s living with Kevin’s psychotic twin Ryan Chamberlain! Will she survive?

Before viewers learned that Ryan (Jon Lindstrom, who also plays Kevin) was locked up in a padded room, word had leaked out that the psycho was on his way back to the canvas. Some speculated that Ryan had taken over Kevin’s identity before Kevin and Laura wed, negating the duo’s marriage.

That theory had even made its way to Francis, who told TV Insider, “A lot of people were saying that to me.”

However, it is Laura’s legal husband who’s currently being kept prisoner — and there’s no telling when Laura will learn the truth. Eventually, she’ll likely catch on because she knows Kevin so well and values their relationship.

“They’ve both been through a lot,” Francis says. “They’re an older couple so that they both know what they want. Sometimes when you get to a point in life you think you’re going to be alone from here on in.

To find each other and what you want in someone at this time is precious. Laura gives [Kevin] a stability that he could never have gotten from Lucy [Lynn Herring] because [laughs] Lucy was never stable!”

Francis gives her leading man kudos for taking on a dual role. “He’s not going [big]. I like that. It feels more real to me. I ask [Jon] all the time if he’s having fun and he says he is. Nobody deserves it more than he does.”

As of now, Ryan’s being very clever about not dropping any hints to those around him in Kevin’s life that things are amiss. Might Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel), who’s coming back to the show later this month, be the one to shed light on what’s going on? Stay tuned to find out!
