Ever since Nina arrived on the Port Charles scene as a woman just awoken from a coma after 20 years, fans have insisted the baby she was carrying when she entered that coma never really died.

For several years, we were all convinced Kiki (Hayley Erin) was Nina’s daughter, perhaps given to her by Madeline (Donna Mills) and Ava’s baby really died.

However, the dynamic between the Ava (Maura West)and Kiki mother-daughter team was so good, it would have been a shame to have her not be Ava’s daughter at all.

After Nina (Michelle Stafford) became attached to Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez) after learning she couldn’t have any more children, fans held onto the Kiki hopes, especially when Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) got jailbird Madeline to say Nina’s baby never died and it was a little girl.

Of course, he was dangling an early release in front of her, so Madeline might have been willing to say anything to get out of jail free. Then, she mysteriously died and could never tell the real truth.

We all knew it was too easy when Valentin and Curtis (Donnell Turner) found this girl who looks just like Nina’s cousin, Brit, and DNA tests proved she was Nina’s daughter.

FAKE DNA tests that is! With Valentin stealing some of Madeline’s DNA right off her dead body laying in a coffin to substitute as Sasha’s DNA. Flashbacks from Liesl (Kathleen Gati) told us how he pulled that off.

Ok, back to the Kiki red herring, but that didn’t last long when Kiki was killed and Nina would need another real daughter on the scene. Perhaps one she already hated? Yes, Soap Hub thinks Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) is a red herring, too, but we’ll get to our Willow theory another time.

In the end, isn’t it conceivable that the baby Nina was carrying when she slipped into that coma really did die as we were first told? It’s tragic indeed for a woman who wants children so much, but that would also be the twist and we think GH is going to go this way.

General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
