While General Hospital fans ooohh’d and ahhh’d over little scene stealer Avery Corinthos yesterday, it occurred to us her precocious nature might be part of the plot.
How often do we see Avery throughout an entire episode in each act of the one-hour show? Not very often. But, now that she can clearly talk and interact with the other characters, she becomes a character unto herself and not just a prop baby.
Yes, little Ava and Grace Scarola (the twins who play Avery) have never been a prop and always something special, but now she could be the key to unraveling a mystery her mother wants to stay a mystery.
While Avery sat in her high chair enjoying wishbones and holiday fun, the always-neurotic Ava (Maura West) sat there discussing her pill switching scheme with Scott (Kin Shriner).
Clearly, Avery has no idea she heard something she shouldn’t, and sometimes…well…out of the mouths of babes.
Just imagine it. One day Avery is with Daddy Sonny (Maurice Benard) or Step-Mommy Carly (Laura Wright) and says, “Mommy talks about pills and Morgan.” And just like Morgan–BOOM–her parents figure it out.
Someone has to figure it out eventually, right? And Lucy (Lynn Herring) spilling the beans would be too obvious.
If she were to do it, she would have done it already. But, a two-year-old bringing sense to her brother’s death would not be what one would expect. And, we all know one thing from soaps–expect the unexpected.
Besides, that would mean we get to see Avery more, and that’s always a treat.
