Our General Hospital Take: Why Jordan Makes Us Want to Throw a Shoe at the TV

There’s just something about Jordan Ashford on “General Hospital” that rubs us the wrong way. It’s definitely not actress Vinessa Antoine, as she is beautiful and talented, and plays the part well. And maybe that’s the problem. She plays her so well that she gets under our skin to the point where we can barely stand her anymore.

Sometimes we think Jordan takes a cue from Elizabeth as the Queen of Self-Righteous, something Rebecca Herbst has down to perfection. Like Liz, Jordan seems to believe she’s above everyone else, despite several skeletons hanging readily in her closet.

Last week took the cake with Jordan. There was Hayden (Rebecca Budig) doing everything she could to tell her that she knows Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) tried to have her killed, but Jordan claimed she was off-duty and was more interested in enjoying the night than dealing with police business. However, as soon as Sabrina appeared out of nowhere, the cuffs came out and she was more than happy to play commissioner. Does she understand you can’t pick and choose what crimes you want solved to suit your social life–or whim?

Speaking of Jordan’s social life–how much of a shrew can this woman be? She smacks a man for being a FRIEND to a woman–a woman who SHE was best friends with? Yes, admittedly Finola Hughes and Anthony Montgomery have infinitely more chemistry than Antoine and Montgomery, but Miss Cool, Calm, and Collected sure knows how to show her true colors when things don’t go her way.

And, what about her hypocritical nature? Did she not commit a crime by covering up Ava’s part in the accident that gave Jason a brand-new face and Jake Doe identity? That seems to be ok with her, but Anna committing a crime of passion and quite likely temporary insanity is not. Let’s not forget she’s also keeping “The Big Lie” from her son about his real father.

So, next time the high and mighty Jordan flashes her badge and asserts her unearned authority, someone in Port Charles needs to take her down a peg or two. Paging Shawn Butler…
