Once in Pentonville, Brad Cooper’s probably going to start working out with weights. Now, his portrayer, General Hospital star Parry Shen, is finding new ways to work out, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Co-star Mark Lawson is already a pro at this.

“And so the new normal for now begins…,” Shen shared on Instagram, “workouts in the new ‘gym’ (aka the garage) — amongst the jackets, shoes (cuz, Asian) and water heater. Stay as healthy & productive as possible while we all do our part in keeping others safe!

“Side note: Without all the music and other people at the gym, I just realized how loud I am when I train. It’s really distracting and am surprised I haven’t been told to shut up! 🤐.”

Meanwhile, Lawson, who plays Dustin, has been working out at home for quite some time — and he recommends it.

“I often use the hashtag ‘trainasif,'” Lawson posted on Instagram. “Well….now is the ‘as if.’ I posted, jokingly, yesterday that soon gyms will be closed and many people will be looking to learn how to train at home. This has been my only gym (minus travel and a 1-month stint at a globo-gym about five years ago) for the last 8 years. Space is different, but gear, methods, and philosophy are the same.

“I believe there is tremendous value in simplicity,” Lawson wrote in another post. “Like many of the old school bodybuilders and strength athletes (I consider myself a smattering of both) I think you can’t really go wrong with whole body training 3x a week. I may add a fourth if I’m specifically targeting something (adding mass, building strength).

“I also like to get two short, intense conditioning sessions in a week. Maybe a third if I’m really pushing. Or maybe a long slow cardio day if I’m trying to help my recovery and body composition.”
