As many General Hospital fans know, actresses Emme Rylan and Kirsten Storms are BFFs off-screen, just as they are on-screen as Lulu and Maxie. Many fans know these two women are also quite crafty.
Knitting With General Hospital Stars
Knitting is their main passion and now they want to share it with you. Both women have taken to Instagram to announce their plans to post video knitting tutorials that get right down to basics — and we mean as basic as learning to get the yarn onto the needles and the simplest knit stitch.
Kirsten Storms: A Healing Process
Storms reveals how knitting has helped her through her mental health issues, helping her combat depression, anxiety, and a mood disorder. Rylan gives you a supply list and asks that you post your creations using the hashtag #kickingitwithemmeandkirsten.
What To Do
“Attention people who have never knit before and want to learn. Emme and I are doing a special project just for you! Check out my last post for the supply list and info on the “Kicking It” scarf,” Kirsten Storms posted.
“This will be an easy VERY beginner project that includes: learning how to get the yarn on the needles, the basic knit stitch, and binding-off your work. Tutorial videos will be posted that you can watch over and over again.
“Also, there is no “countdown clock” for when you need to finish. You are welcome to knit this scarf until next winter if that is the pace you’d like to go at – we will follow your progress and leave comments on your posts IF you are using the hashtag #KickingItWithEmmeAndKirsten (very important to use that so we can check in on you). Handmade items make wonderful sentimental gifts or keep the scarf for yourself and wear it with pride.”
“Knitting has been a huge help for me mentally,” Kirsten Storms continues. “As I’ve spoken about in the past, I deal with depression, anxiety and have a mood disorder – and knitting helps ground my brain, relax me, and puts me in a happy place. I love using my hands to make something and feeling productive.”
Now we want to see Maxie and Lulu take up knitting on and show us how creative they are using their portrayers’ creations. Let the actresses tell you even more about it in the Instagram posts below. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
