On General Hospital, Trina is getting ready to graduate high school with her pals Josslyn Jacks and Cameron Webber. In real life, actress Sydney Mikayla celebrated that big milestone earlier this year, and the 18-year-old realized she needed to let her fans know.
On Instagram (actually sharing her TikTok video), the actress posted photos of herself in a cap and gown and revealed that she finished high school at the beginning of the year.
“I’ve been so busy I forgot to let everyone know I graduated in January,” Mikayla said. “I left with a 4.3 GPA and was top 7% of my class! Grad pics coming soon.”
Taking classes while doing the show with the challenges of learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, makes her accomplishment even more impressive.
Of course, her GH character, Trina Robinson, has more than the typical high school issues to deal with. She’s also dealing with some “daytime drama” that most students don’t have to, such as almost being killed by Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and then learning her dad was shot and killed, only to discover later that he was just faking his death.
Naturally, Trina was mad that her dad, Taggert (Réal Andrews), didn’t trust her enough to tell the truth and her teen angst started to set in, as she took it out on those around her — especially Curtis (Donnell Turner). But it looks like Trina has seen the error of her ways (or will someone prod her?) because she will be making amends. She blamed Curtis for her dad’s death and hopefully, this means that she is headed for reconciliation with Taggert soon too.
The actress first started appearing on GH in 2019, after a long list of guest spots on TV and in film, most notably portraying Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas in the Lifetime biopic for which she won a Young Artist Award.
Mikayla also voices the role of Wolf in the Netflix animated series Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
