General Hospital star Nancy Lee Grahn turned in a tour-de-force performance as her character Alexis examined her life before heading off to Pentonville to serve out a three-year sentence for harming Dante. The Daytime Emmy-winning actress live-tweeted the program, revealing inside information about what went into this powerful episode — and teased what’s next for her character.
Grahn graciously live-tweeted twice on the day the episode aired; once for east coast viewers; another for west coast fans. Alexis devotees, including @509ShawnG and @Tricia77m, were wondering if Alexis becoming incarcerated meant she’d be off-camera for a while. “You’ll see me in prison tomorrow,” Grahn replied. “It’s not a good day for Alexis.”
She was asked by @fangirl_810 if there are any specific favorite scenes she’s played with TV daughters Kelly Monaco (Sam), Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), and Haley Pullos (Molly) over the years? “I love when we fight,” Grahn replied. “Lol.”
Also, @ShannonBelger praised Grahn’s performance, and then, she had a question for Grahn about her plans for 2022. “In all honesty, Nancy..Only you can make me physically feel as though I’m right next to you…Stomach is in knots, chest is tight, I’m crying like a big baby. This writing, your portrayal is off the charts! THIS MY FRIEND, IS YOUR EMMY REEL, will you pls submit?”
Twitter user @Kinravip asked Grahn if there was someone in the GH cast she’s never gotten to work with but would love to? “Roger [Howarth, ex-Franco], Jeff [Kober, Cyrus], more with Maura [West, Ava],” Grahn replied.
“Hi BEAUTIFUL Nancy!!!” posted @STEELK1969, who enjoyed the montage of flashbacks used at the end of the episode. “Did you have a personal selection in the Alexis as an adult flashback scenes today?” Grahn replied: “I [gave] some input on this one yes. Group effort.”
Grahn’s daughter Kate Grahn tweeted out her own special message in light of today’s episode featuring her mom. “Seeing @NancyLeeGrahn trending on Twitter is making my day,” Kate tweeted. “Also i helped @NancyLeeGrahn run lines in preparation for this episode so…*ahem* ‘I’d like to thank the Academy…'” General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
