Max Gail was the daytime star we never knew was missing until he joined the cast of General Hospital as Mike Corbin. A relative (but not total) newcomer to the genre, Gail’s earnest and heartfelt performances in his important storyline are what daytime is all about!
The actor, best known for his Emmy-nominated role as lovable Det. Stan “Wojo” Wojciehowicz, on the ABC sitcom Barney Miller, made his debut at Sonny’s dad on March 20, 2018.
The show has addressed Sonny and Mike’s dynamic on a new level in light of Mike’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Gail’s been rewarded for his fine work with a Daytime Emmy nomination for performances as Mike in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. And, now, Gail’s got even more of a reason to celebrate! It’s was his birthday yesterday.
Born on April 5 in Detroit, Michigan, Gail’s been wed twice and has three children. He owns his own production company (Full Circle), which has done projects on such important topics as Agent Orange, nuclear issues, and Native Americans.
In real-life, Gail’s a twin brother to his sister Mary. The actor’s other credits include Mad Men, Gary Unmarried, Judging Amy, Chicago Hope, and numerous other shows.
GH actually isn’t Gail’s first daytime gig. He appeared as of Merle, a hippie, on Days of Our Lives for some episodes in 2007.
Soap Hub joins Gail’s family, friends, and fans in wishing the actor a happy birthday and many happy returns.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
