Soap stars love keeping busy with other creative projects while not on their daytime set and General Hospital star Maurice Benard is no exception. Apparently, the actor has a brand-new project, but we are not 100% sure what that project is.
Maurice Benard And GH Stars Branch Out
However, thanks to Real Andrews (Taggert), we have some clues, including which fellow GH actors are included in this project and what Benard’s job is.
“I am on the set with Maurice Benard and Ian Buchanan,” Andrews shared on Instagram. “Maurice is working on a personal secret project he seems very excited about it I did a scene with Ian Buchanan playing detectives and we were all laughing our hearts out the great thing about it is I’ve never been directed by Maurice. It’s one thing to work with him but being directed by him is a whole new experience and personally, I’ve always wanted to work with on that level.
“All Maurice cares about is that the scenes are real and truthful and I have never had so much fun…It is a very Tarentinoesq film. Stay tuned. I’m not allowed to say but trust me the cast is beyond stellar…”
So, clearly, Benard is directing this film featuring some of his Port Charles co-stars, and it looks like there will be lots of twists and turns with a possible crime-drama theme, considering that Andrews calls the flock “Tarentinoesq”.
Earlier this year, Benard appeared as a cop in the film Equal Standard, while also releasing his first book, Nothing General About It: How Love (and Lithium) Saved Me On and Off General Hospital.
On GH, his character, mobster Sonny Corinthos, is now wandering somewhere near Port Charles (but not close enough) with amnesia. At least he’s been taken in by a kind nurse — the nurse who treated Nina and gave Baby Nelle away to Frank Benson in Florida. Where will that story lead? Stay tuned to find out…General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
