Maurice Benard has spent more than a quarter of a century bringing Sonny Corinthos to life on General Hospital. During that time, he’s worked with many young actors and he prides himself with taking them under his wing.
The latest teen performer to work regularly with Benard is Ashton Arbab, the young actor who played Dev ‘Corbin’ — a street kid Sonny met in Turkey earlier this year who made his way to the states. Sonny pulled some strings and got him some immigration papers and a back story as his cousin and they’ve been busy keeping that secret. (Well, Dev and Joss just spilled all to the other teens, Trina and Cam.)
Benard recently took to Instagram shared a sweet photo of himself and Arbab on set, saying:
“I love working and helping the young actors-Sometimes they get out of hand, but most of the time they’re fantastic. Nothing is more rewarding for me.”
Indeed, the seasoned Emmy-winning actor has worked with many young GH stars through the years, including Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), who won an Emmy of her own in 2017. Maurice Benard also currently works with Eden McCoy’s Joss as her on-screen stepfather and recently gave some friendly advice to Cam (Will Lipton) under Elizabeth’s (Rebecca Herbst) urging.
In fact, Benard’s own teenage son, Joshua, appeared on GH last year playing a young Sonny in a dream sequence, allowing father and son to work together. With his experience on GH and his real-life experiences with his own four kids, is it any wonder Benard has such admiration for the PC younger set. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC.
