General Hospital Star Laura Wright Celebrates Amazing Milestone!

Carly always seems to be avoiding catastrophe after catastrophe on General Hospital, but Laura Wright has a reason to celebrate!

Wright was born on September 11, 1970 in Clinton, Maryland, which means that she is turning 48 years old today!

She became interested in acting in the eighth grade and appeared in a host of high school plays, including Gypsy, Our Town, and You Can’t Take It With You before she graduated Surrattsville Sr. High in Clinton.

She had a few local commercials and numerous fashion shows under her belt before her big break when she landed the role of Ally on Loving. She played Ally for four years before transitioning to a spin-off soap, The City, after the original show was cancelled.

While on Loving, she was best friends and roommates with Kelly Ripa, who was on All My Children at the time. After The City was cancelled, she was cast as daytime Reva’s  younger sister, Cassie, on Guiding Light — a role she played for eight years.

She left Guiding Light in 2005 to move to Los Angeles and take over the coveted role of Carly, who she’s played ever since.

On the personal front, she married wed John Wright in 1998. They have two children together, but split up in 2016.

In addition to her soap roles, Wright has appeared in the movies Joy, with Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, and Bradley Cooper, as well as Intensive Care with DAYS star Judi Evans and former GL co-star Brody Hutzler.
