General Hospital star Kimberly McCullough and former Guiding Light player Brittany Snow have much in common given that they both spent the early days of their career on soaps. Now, the two have something else in common related to the primetime series Almost Family.

Kimberly McCullough: Director

McCullough, beloved as GH’s Robin, recently directed an episode of Almost Family, the Fox drama on which Snow (ex-Susan/Daisy, GL) stars.

The former Port Charles resident posted to her Instagram account: “Just finished my directors cut. What a treat this show was to direct. Absolutely loved this DP [Director of Photography] and of course all of the actors.”

Almost Family is executive produced by Jason Katims (Friday Night Lights; Parenthood) and tells the story of a family that’s brought together by unique circumstances. Julia Bechley (Snow) is an only child — or so she believes. Her life is turned upside down after her father, Leon, played by Oscar-winning actor Timothy Hutton (Ordinary People), reveals that he used his position as a fertility doctor to father several children!

McCullough has segued from acting to directing over the course of her career. She’s one of Hollywood’s busiest directors, in fact, stepping behind the lens at such series as One Day at a Time, Fuller House, Pretty Little Liars, The Connors, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. McCullough’s 2020 directing credits will include episodes of Carol’s Second Act and Roswell, New Mexico.

General Hospital fans always welcome McCullough back as Robin. She’s one of the few stars who began her career as a youngster on a soap and played the role into adulthood without undergoing SORAS (AKA Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome).

No word on when McCullough’s episode of Almost Family airs, but one thing’s for certain — it won’t be until next year. The show returns with new episodes starting Wednesday, January 1 at 9 p.m. on Fox. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for air times.
