General Hospital star Kelly Monaco is a rarity in the modern soap world. While she uses social media, she doesn’t use it often and when she does say something, it’s usually for a very good reason.
This weekend, Monaco tweeted a message to fans with the #nobulliesallowed hashtag to thank those fans who stick by her side no matter the storyline. In the past, some fans have treated Monaco poorly via tweet, which has made her shy away from the platform, but on Sunday she had this to say.
“Good morning Sam fans. Just a little appreciation post for all of the extraordinary people who show me and my character so much love every day. Your support doesn’t go unnoticed. I adore all of you. I refuse to let the haters shine brighter than love. #gh #nobulliesallowed,” she tweeted, with an accompanying picture of a rainbow unicorn as a symbol of positivity.
Some fans have taken things to the extreme and bullied each other over whether Sam belonged with Jason or his brother, Drew. Even with Drew allegedly dead, there is a contingent of fans who still hold out hope he will return and Sam will choose him. (Sam chooses whomever the writers want her to choose, as we know.)
Still, Monaco just wants everything to get along and tell her fans how much they mean to her, sticking with her through thick and thin during her many years on General Hospital, and its former spin-off soap, Port Charles. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
