General Hospital (GH) star James Patrick Stuart revealed a dear friend passed away suddenly. The actor shared the sad news with his followers on his Twitter account that two-time Emmy-winning composer, lyricist, conductor, pianist, and producer, Glen Roven, has passed away. Roven was 60 years old.
“Glen Roven, my dear friend, who wrote so much brilliant music, including the cello solo for my cover of ‘Book of Love’, passed away suddenly today.”
“Roven conducted Frank Sinatra’s last concert on television [for which Roven won one of his Emmys] and Sammy Davis’s final television appearance, as well as four presidential inaugurations,” according to his Broadway World obituary.
The other Emmy Roven won was in 1986 for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction for his work on The 40th Annual Tony Awards.
Other greats that he worked with over his long career included He Julie Andrews, Melissa Etheridge, Aretha Franklin, Kenny G., Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Martin Short, TRAIN, Kermit the Frog, as well as many others.
“I am devastated as is everyone who knew him. He had so much more to do. No words…” shared Stuart.
