General Hospital Star James Patrick Stuart Lands Disney Pilot

James Patrick Stuart brings a fascinating edge to his role as Valentin Cassadine on General Hospital. The fan-favorite may soon be bringing his talents to another role, having landed a pilot for a new TV series.

Deadline reports that Stuart is in the cast of the pilot for the series Amy from Amarillo, the working title for a comedy series starring Isabella Pappas (Finding Alice) in the title role. Also starring in the pilot is Lucy Davis (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina).

Other cast members, in addition to Stuart, include Patricia Belcher (Bones), Kayden Muller Janssen (Spies: Room of Secrets), Malachi Burton, and Reed Horstmann (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia). Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore (Billion Dollar Freshman) are the show’s executive producers and writers.

The show’s story follows a family of super-villains, who must go into seclusion in Amarillo, Texas. Once there, they run into the League of Villains and are about to be vanquished. This should be easy for Stuart since he’s had great practice at playing villainy — after all, Valentin IS supposed to be the most evil of all the Cassadines, according to Helena.

No word yet if Stuart’s character is set to be a series regular, heavily recurring, or guest-star. However, as the show is going to air on Disney (the parent company of ABC), it stands to reason that the two shows would work out a deal where Stuart could do the new series and continue on as Valentin.

While Stuart does a lot of voice-over work in addition to his work on General Hospital, Amy from Amarillo is described as a live-action series. Currently, Valentin believes he’s about to become a father for a second time courtesy of Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) pregnancy.

What he doesn’t know is that Brook Lynn is lying about expecting and is planning to leverage her fake condition to help the Quartermaines regain control of ELQ, the family business.
