Hudson West, who plays Jake on General Hospital, danced his heart out last night on Dancing With the Stars Juniors to a superhero-themed paso doble!
Despite earning a respectable score of 22 and genuine praise from the judges, the Emmy-nominated actor was voted off the reality dance competition series!
For the superhero-themed dance, West took on the persona of “Lighting Dude” and his partner, dance pro Kameron Couch, was dubbed “Love Girl.”
“I have the power to shoot lighting out of my hands and I have this really cool lightning bolt [on my costume],” West said as to why he was given the handle “Lighting Dude.”
Couch says she’s called “Love Girl” because love always wins!”
“Dude, your superhero cape turned into a paso doble cape,” judge Valentin Chmerkovskiy told West. “I’ve never seen that before. You killed it!”
Judge Mandy Moore praised: “You know what I love is I could see in that cool onesie of yours all your muscles. You were holding Kameron so strong., You embodied the character. I really enjoyed that performance tonight. Good job!”
“I’m so impressed,” added judge Adam Rippon. “You look like a really great partnership. So fun to watch and you know what? The next step for you is to loosen up and enjoy. If you can loosen up a little bit more you can take the performance to an even higher level.”
Alas, the couple didn’t get that chance to advance. At the end of the episode, it was announced that West and Couch would not be advancing to the next round. Hayley Erbert, the team’s mentor, embraced West and Couch, telling them that, “You guys still killed it!”
What was West’s favorite part of being on the show? “Just working with all these people and being on stage has been such an honor for me,” West said just before pro dancer Alan Bersten picked him up and put him on his shoulder, giving West a bird’s eye view of the dance floor.
Dancing With the Stars Juniors airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check local listings for airtimes.
