Nina Cassadine may be worrying herself sick about Sasha’s illness but actress Cynthia Watros certainly has a reason to celebrate.
That’s because she was born on September 2, 1968, in Lake Orion, Michigan, which means that this talented performer is turning 51 years old today! Watros is a Boston University graduate who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Watros’ first on-camera role was “Reporter” on the hit FOX police procedural New York Undercover. One year later she joined the cast of Guiding Light a CBS daytime drama. Her character, Annie Dutton, was originally written as a heroine and her paring with Joshua Lewis was well received by the show’s fans.
However, upon the return of actress Kim Zimmer, Watros’ role was significantly altered to that of a villainess and she received critical acclaim as Annie slowly succumbed to homicidal madness. The part earned Watros the 1998 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
From 2000 to 2002, Watros starred as Erin Fitzpatrick on the FOX sitcom Titus and after that show’s cancellation, she played Kellie Newmark on The Drew Carey Show. A brief stint on the popular science fiction series LOST soon followed.
Watros’ other primetime television credits include In Plain Sight, House, Grey’s Anatomy, and Warehouse 13.
In 2013, she joined The Young and the Restless as Kelly Andrews but the role proved short-lived as she had to exit the following year due to a scheduling conflict with another series titled Finding Carter. Since June of 2019, Watros has starred as Nina Reeves on ABC’s General Hospital.
