General Hospital Star Chris Van Etten Gives Update On Mom’s Health

General Hospital fans got a pleasant surprise on Wednesday’s episode with a glimpse of Amy’s brother Chet, as he manned the bar during the dueling pre-wedding celebrations for Valentin and Nina. While Chet’s life seems to be going full steam ahead, the actor, Chris Van Etten, recently looked back at his mom’s cancer journey.

A Heartwarming Reunion

The handsome actor took to Instagram to share a beautiful video of his reunion with his mom, who has been in the battle of her life.

“Metastatic breast cancer of the lung. This time last year, we were celebrating the fact my mom had beaten breast cancer for the 2nd time. A few months later, when my mom started having a hard time breathing, we found out cancer cells had unfortunately spread to her lungs.”

The General Hospital actor went on to explain how life for their family has had its ups and downs since hearing the diagnosis. While social media hasn’t been a high priority, there is still something he wanted people to know.

“But I do want to take a minute and let everyone know how badass this lady is. Her fight has been extremely tough, and there are a lot of unknowns for the future. But anyone who knows her, knows that she is too stubborn to give up. She’s always been a symbol of strength for our family and those that meet her,” Van Etten wrote.

The reunion with his mother looked to be an emotional one for both, albeit for the interruption of his mother’s dog. “Big thanks to my parents’ dog Bailey for ruining the moment,” he added, even though those who have a dog understand they like to be a part of things and this was just Bailey’s way.

As for his character, Chet once again asked about Maxie (Kirsten Storms), warming the hearts of fans who root for those characters to get together. Considering Peter’s (Wes Ramsey) recent return to the dark side, his longterm future certainly seems in doubt. Could Chet help Maxie piece together her broken heart? Keep watching.
