Michael Corinthos and Dr. Obrecht couldn’t be more different on General Hospital, but now their portrayers — Chad Duell and Kathleen Gati — have something in common. Both have had roles on the superhero series Arrow.
Chad Duell Books CW Show
The actor recently shared with Soap Opera Digest that he’s landed a guest spot on The CW series, which is currently airing its final season. “I had an awesome time; it was a great experience,” Duell says. “I love being part of the show.”
Kathleen Gati (Dr. Obrecht), as Arrow fans know, played the part of Raisa in the Arrow pilot and reprised the role again in the series sixth season.
Many daytime actors have both soap opera and super-hero roles in common. Justin Hartley (ex-Adam, The Young and the Restless) played Oliver Queen/Green Arrow on Smallville. Eric Martsolf (Brady, Days of Our Lives) guest-starred on Smallville as futuristic hero Booster Gold.
GH co-star Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin) voiced the Green Arrow in Justice League Unlimited from 2004 – 2006, while Stacy Haiduk (Kristen, DAYS) portrayed Lana Lang on the syndicated series Superboy.
A True Superhero
Recently, the superhero worlds of Green Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Black Lightning took on an adaption of the famous comic book series Crisis on Infinite Earths — Crisis — and their various earths merged into one.
This March, Duell celebrates a decade of playing GH’s Michael. He received Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in a Drama Series in 2011, 2012, and 2014.
He then received a nomination and went on to win in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2015. The next episode of Arrow, titled Green Arrow & The Canaries, airs on Tuesday, January 21 at 8 p.m. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
