General Hospital fans were shocked on Tuesday when they saw another actress playing the role of Jordan Ashford — a role that Briana Nicole Henry has been playing since September 13, 2018. Now the actress has revealed the story behind the switch and her special connection to the actress who is playing the role temporarily.
Briana Nicole Henry Explains
Henry took to her Instagram Stories in a video to explain why she wasn’t able to shoot her General Hospital scenes and needed to be replaced by actress Tiffany Daniels.
“I appreciate all the love and support from you guys worried about my status as Jordan with GH,” began Henry in her online video. “I caught COVID over the holidays and had to take a couple of weeks off hence why I had someone who needed to fill in for me. Coincidentally, it’s my best friend so I’m back at GH and please enjoy the beautiful Tiff D. for the next couple of episodes.”
So far, we’ve already seen Daniels play opposite some of the show’s most popular stars, including Finola Hughes (Anna), as Anna and Jordan bonded about the challenges of marriage, as well as a heated exchange with Jordan’s husband Curtis (Donnell Turner) during a rough patch in their marriage as Curtis once again rejected an overture from Jordan to repair their fractured union.
Henry isn’t the first actor on soaps to need a temp recast after contracting the extremely contagious virus. Over at The Young and the Restless, Donny Boaz was briefly replaced in the role of Chance by co-star Melissa Ordway’s (Abby) real-life husband, actor Justin Gaston, which made kissing scenes in the age of COVID a lot easier.
Luckily for fans of Henry, she has alerted that her absence is only for a few episodes so stay tuned to see what happens next for Jordan. General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
