It turns out the first “General Hospital” standout moment this week didn’t even happen in Port Charles. It took place on Cassadine Island somewhere in Greece. (We never really know where.) The news is out about the second alleged Nikolas murder this year–and the fallout was mesmerizing.
Riveting Drama
Kudos must go out to Genie Francis (Laura) for her Emmy-worthy performance. Considering it’s not the first time her character heard about a son who died (it’s not even the first time for this particular son), you could understand if Laura held back. However, no mother thinks that way in the heat of the moment.
Francis made Laura’s devastation and subsequent anger at his murder simply gut wrenching. It didn’t feel like we were watching television but rather bearing witness to a horror that’s too much for any mother to bear.

If that wasn’t enough, Laura was forced to stare down the barrel of a gun. Instead of dying herself, she watched in horror as her good friend Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) took the bullet that was meant for her head.
Honorable Mention
Back in Port Charles, Sonny (Maurice Benard) happened upon a warm moment between his daughter and her female professor. We’re pretty sure that has the mafia boss rather confused, and we can’t wait to see his reaction.

Earlier in the episode, Parker (Ashley Jones) seemed to speak for many fans when she explained to Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) why their union was a bad idea. She’s older, her mentor and professor, and maybe even took advantage of a situation. It was great to see GH address the elephant in the room.

Ok, this wasn’t a shocking moment, but it needs addressing. Why is the uniform at Sonny’s new coffee venture, where he seems to only employ hot young men, a long-sleeved T-shirt? Dude, it’s summer! They’re too hot in more ways than one. Let these handsome young men show some skin and we bet the ratings will rise like the temps.
