Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review and a cheeky critique, the General Hospital week that was.
When looking for a scapegoat it’s always best to seek out the one who begat the evil. So, without further ado, I introduce you to GH’s true big bad: Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander).
Sure, sure, she didn’t give birth to the monster that is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), but she did contribute to his evolution into the thorn in everyone’s backside…and all because she told the predatory Gordon Grey to kick rocks decades ago. My, my, my, how different the canvas would look if only she hadn’t.
But all that only counts if you actually believe Cyrus’s “poor little me” routine. According to Cyrus, had Lesley and Gordon never coupled then he would be good as gold. And apparently, the Corinthos family could breathe easy, and Lulu (Emme Rylan) wouldn’t be in a coma, and all would be right with the world. Except then we wouldn’t have Laura…and that is unacceptable.
And what is equally unacceptable is how stupid Franco (Roger Howarth) has been written as of late. Just when it seemed like he had a new lease on life, he had to go and tip his hand and tell Peter (Wes Ramsey) that he’s hearing his voice inside his head. It’s an unconscionable move.
And now that there’s a real possibility that Peter’s precariously-balanced house of cards will come tumbling down, we’re about to find out how far he’s willing to go. He already snuffed out Drew Cain (supposedly) and he did put out a hit on Franco once before. And there’s nothing more dangerous than a villain who has everything to lose.
Speaking of villains, but this time, the lovable kind, Liesl (Kathleen Gati) is back in town and bringing her best Farrah Fawcett realness. And a pen. The latter helped solidify Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) as her puppet and the wig helped keep her identity hidden…from everyone except for Britt (Kelly Thiebaud).
Britt has a nose for trouble and her mother’s favorite perfume, so the jig is up, so to speak. But at the moment, Britt has decided to play nice and let Liesl go on about her Peter destroying business.
Ah, business. That’s the thing that Carly (Laura Wright) should stay out of, especially when it’s other peoples. Her move against Cyrus has caused Jason (Steve Burton) a serious amount of trouble, and instead of contributing to the problem, she should be attempting to solve it.
Where’s Sonny (Maurice Benard) when you need him? Oh yea, he’s somewhere in a hundred-acre wood freezing his backside off and wondering if anybody is ever going to find him.
Anybody else holding out hope that there will be a substantial Lesley/Monica (Leslie Charleson) scene? Their all too brief paring was the sole highlight of the unfulfilling 56th-anniversary episode.
Who else is cursing the timing of the Taggert recast? It’s not to say that Asante Jones hasn’t stepped up to the plate…he most certainly has. But wouldn’t his reunion with Trina (Sydney Mikayla) and Portia (Brook Kerr) meant so much more if Real Andrews was still in the role?
Who else forgot the fact that Dante and Sam (Kelly Monaco) were related via little Leo, the offspring of her father and his mother? Speaking of Leo, do you agree that it’s too soon for Ned (Wally Kurth) to be seeking to legally adopt the boy?
Did Cyrus and Julian (William deVry) actually conclude their business deal or is Charlie’s Pub now Ava’s (Maura West) property?
Did anyone else notice the big continuity goof in Friday’s episode? Laura blasted Cyrus for The Floating Rib bombing which she claimed killed TWO people. Previously, it was established that Dev (Ashton Arbab), Dustin (Mark Lawson), and the bartender were killed. 1+1+1=3! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
