Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For just one day we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the General Hospital week that was. (The other four days of the week featured the Impeachment Trial Of Donald J. Trump, which is now over so soaps will be back tomorrow.)
Anybody else a little bit surprised that Peter (Wes Ramsey) just confessed his litany of sins to Valentin (James Patrick Stuart)? How about the fact that he did so in such a public place that had, only moments earlier been occupied by the likes of Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), Nina (Cynthia Watros), and MAXIE (Kirsten Storms)?!
And how about Valentin choosing to only be a passive assistant to Peter rather than overtly help him get away with his misdeeds? Is this true character growth, or is it just Valentin not wanting to get his hands any dirtier?
Maybe he’s thinking that the less he has to do with Peter the greater his chances of reuniting with Nina. After all, she seems desperate for a Boy Scout – which Jax (Ingo Rademacher) ain’t – so maybe she’d been more inclined to take back Valentin 2.0.
Or maybe, just maybe, it has less to do with any of that and more to do with Valentin’s unresolved feelings for Anna (Finola Hughes). He knows that she’s compromised herself left and right in order to justify Peter and his actions so perhaps he’s hoping to minimize the inevitable damage that Peter’s downfall will cause her.
In any case, it’s high time that this story was put to rest. February Sweeps is upon us, and Peter’s outage as the true big bad would be the perfect stunt during this critical ratings period.
And speaking of storylines that need to be rested…when will someone, anyone learn who Sonny (Maurice Benard) actually is. GH missed the boat big time when they failed to have Sonny accompany Phyllis (Joyce Guy) to Port Charles.
Imagine Sonny accidentally stumbling into his own memorial service much to the delight of the family members that he can’t recollect. Fingers crossed the ending is nigh and that the payoff is worthy of the setup.
* Color us intrigued over the contents downloaded onto that mystery USB drive that’s bound for Peter’s hands. Might it contain proof that Alex and not Anna was his biological mother? And will the device actually wind up delivered to Peter, or might it be intercepted by the likes of Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) or Anna? The mind boggles. General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.
