Welcome to Soap Hub’s “General Hospital Recaps” (GH) feature. Thursday, March 3 was another day of angst in Port Charles. Tensions flared, tears were shed, but smooches were had, and hope was not lost.
Diane (Carolyn Hennesey) visited Sonny and Carly (Maurice Benard and Laura Wright), and suggested they assume legal responsibility for Morgan (Bryan Craig), despite the fact that he’s an adult. Sonny was all for it, but once they were alone, Carly objected– vociferously–because she is Carly, after all. In a tearful and shocking moment of clarity, the newly re-minted (this is their fifth attempt, y’all!) Mrs. Corinthos admitted she and Sonny are incapable of managing Morgan’s mental health. It looks like she wants their boy committed. Is she wrong?
In a brief respite from Poodlegate, Maxie (Kirsten Storms) offered some advice to Nina (Michelle Stafford). Today, at Maxie and Nathan’s (Ryan Paevey’s) apartment, Franco (Roger Howarth) was upset with Nina for pursuing adoption without his consent. The duo had a tense (but loving) exchange in front of Maxie. Are NiCo the most (and perhaps only) romantic couple on GH right now?
When Franco left, Nina explained their baby dispute to Maxie. (Shallow note: How adorable was Maxie’s black and pink outfit?) Franco would be an excellent father, but is too afraid to try. He is right–no adoption agency would ever give them a baby. Maxie told Nina about her alternatives, including private adoption, but to Nina, that feels like buying a baby.
Once she heard Nina got her infertility diagnosis from that lying liar who lies, Dr. Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), Maxie said “I wouldn’t trust her to pull a splinter out, let alone give me medical advice.” Maxie advised Nina to hit the pause button on the adoption angle and get a second opinion on her fertility.
Perhaps this installment of Soap Hub’s “General Hospital Recaps” is guilty of burying our lede, but GH absolutely squandered Thursday’s best moment at the top of the hour. The episode opened with Jason and Sam (Billy Miller and Kelly Monaco) asleep on the couch in Sam’s hotel room. When they woke, their snuggles turned to smooches, and the fandom went wild.
Before they left her room, Jason gave Sam an adorable hand kiss. No, this commentary isn’t worthy of its own paragraph, but you are not going to care, once we post the following screen shot.
When Franco left Nina at Maxie’s, he said he was going to work. Instead he took the Soap Opera Super Express to Philly. Once at Shriners Hospitals for Children, he gave Jake (James Nigbor) a new bike. While Liz (Rebecca Herbst) was not thrilled by this at first, when Jason and Sam showed up, and Jason disapproved, Liz was suddenly all for it. Remember, if he can have a friend, so can she. So, there.
