General Hospital Recap: What The Nurses Ball Is About

The General Hospital recap for Monday, May 20 features fun, frivolity, and reflection against the backdrop of the Nurses Ball’s 25th anniversary.

Scotty (Kin Shriner) and Lucy’s (Lynn Herring) scheme to bust up Ava (Maura West) and Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) was itself a bust. Scotty had taken too long to get Ava upstairs so by the time he dramatically burst through the door Lucy had already dressed and headed backstage.

The hospital nurses opened the show with a rousing arrangement of “Best of My Love” by The Emotions and afterword Lucy reminded the audience why they were there: to open up the pocketbooks and donate money for the continued fight to eradicate HIV and AIDS. Later Chase (Josh Swickard) wowed the crowd with his cover of “Something Just Like This.”

Mike (Max Gail) and Yvonne (Janet Hubert) arrived, elated about their engagement and happily showed off her new ring to Mike’s friends.

Finn (Michael Easton) noticed the stone and took Sonny (Maurice Benard) aside to explain that it belonged to him and he wanted it back so he could propose to Anna (Finola Hughes). They were able to convince Mike to swap the ring for the replica Robert (Tristian Rogers) commissioned.

While Jason (Steve Burton) and Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) rigged the Dawn of Day House with a camera, Sam (Kelly Monaco) caused a stir by introducing Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) at Lulu (Emme Rylan), Maxie (Kirsten Storms), and Peter’s (Wes Ramsey) table.

Maxie flat out called Shiloh a cult leader and Peter informed the ladies that Molly is writing an article about DOD.

Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth) and Josslyn (Eden McCoy) decided to forgo the Ball and stay in for movie night but neither girl enjoyed themselves. Kristina hit the roof when she saw a picture of Shiloh and Sam at the gala and raced to confront the duo.

Anna took Robert backstage and castigated him for his continued interference in her new relationship. She told him that their past is a prologue, and her future is with Finn.

With Robin unable to attend the ceremony, Anna stepped onstage to deliver a speech about the importance of the Ball and to relate her daughter’s struggle living with the HIV virus.

But, Anna pointed out, Robin’s diagnosis and successful, happy life have given something precious: Hope. And that more than anything Anna told the crowd is what the Nurses Ball is about.

Backstage Robert accidentally nudged the engagement ring out of Finn’s hand and it rolled towards Anna’s feet.
